Lesson 1

You came here because you want to learn about punk. It isvery simple.

What is punk rock?

Punk rock is modern rock played in normally fast tempos(that meens the song is fast) and is very loud. The main thing about punk rock is attitude. Our attitude is that we do what we want to do instead of following trends. It is ok to like a trend as long as you like it because you like it, not because nsync or those other teeny bopping, chart topping, horsecrap lickers say you should like it.

What type of equipment should i use

For me any guitar i can hook up to an amp, and an amp with a crapload of distortion is all i need to play. You may need more specific materials but thats what works for me.

What are some well known punk bands?

  1. Bad Religion
  2. Opm
  3. NoFX
  4. Green Day
  5. Rancid
  6. Offspring
  7. Good Charlotte
  8. Guttermouth
  9. Union 13
  10. Nirvanna
  11. 7 Mary 3
  12. Alice in Chains
  13. Sex Pistols
  14. The Ramones
  15. The Clash
  16. Many More

Allrighty then, for all of you who want 2 play, here is the real learing part.

Power Chords

Thats mostly what you need to know 2 play punk rok. A power Chord is a chord where, u play the tonic note, the dominant, and sometimes the octave. They are usually played with 2 or 3 strings. These are some power chords.

Learn these. Learn 2 change smoothly threw these. Learn 2 put on a show as you play them. Look up Punk rock tabs so you can get the feel of it. If u know the basics of playing guitar and you know what power chords are, then you can do it. When Good Charlotte was started, there guitarist only knew 3 chords! You are now better than he was. Good luck. I will come out with a lesson on how 2 write punk rock stuff later.
