Now Before I go into use of the F#maj Arpeggio, let's practice playing it, play it like a scale, cause basically that what it is, a scale comprised of notes within the chord it's names after.
Ok, now you obviously can play a F# Arpeggio over a F# major chord, but what else you can play it over, well just about any chord that harmonizes into any of the scales that works with the F#maj, but today we will work with one so you get the idea, and it'll be the obvious choice, F# Ionian.
F# G# A# B C# D# F F#
Now if you know about the Harmonization of a Major scale, you know already you can do the F# Arpeggio over B and C# Major, so if you have a I IV V Progression which is typical in rock. You could safley play the F# Arpeggio without concern, and then you can focus more on technique and throw in some vibratos and slides. Now I don't think I need to get into much more detail for you to get what I'm saying here, if you don't believe me get a friend to play the following progression for you while you play the F# Arpeggio.
You will be pleased with the Results!
