COLLAGE - An Original Tune

Charles Gacsi (42523) · [archive]
Style: Alternative · Level: Advanced · Tempo: 120
Pages: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

There are two separate pages of Tab on this composition.

The purpose of doing this was for convenience of having a print out that didn't extend beyond the length of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper.

Measure 15, of page one, is where the selection settles for a moment.. thus there is a little bit of blank space in that measure.

The second page of tab has the pickups that lead into the rest of the compostion.

Measure 10 of the second page is blank. If this were in music notation, the symbol D.S. would have been placed there. D.S. means to repeat back to the place where the D.S. symbol is located.

It looks like the letter "S" that has a diagonal slash through it... with a dot above the middle, on it's left side, and one below the middle on it's right side.

The letters, not the symbol, D.S., is placed below the staff on the measure where needed. D.S.

Means to go back to where you see the DS symbol.

And resume playing from that point to the end or perhaps the coda sign. In this composition it would be to page one again. After repeating go to page two again. Playing from measure 1 thru 5

At the end of measure 5 a coda sign is located. It looks like a circle with a large plus through the circle. The coda sign is set above the end of the measure).

Two of the coda signs are on the music. You jump from the first coda sign to the second coda sign and continue playing. The second coda sign is at the beginning of measure 12 in this composition.

Go from measure 12 to the end of the selection.. It is the final ending.

I know that this is a bit confusing, the D.S. symbol and the letters, and the coda sign. They exist in music compositions and arrangemtents. You may get by by just reading the chord symbols, but you MUST KNOW the signs. Check them out in advanced instrumental books for different instruments. They should be there.

Don't confuse these symbols with first and second endings. They are similar, but not the same as the D.S. Symbol can occur at any place in a compositon with the sign at any place as well.. Not defined as clear as the first and second endings.

The maximum length for a page of tab is 32 measures. With the DS and coda signs, this little composition would be in excess of that number.. 48 measures.. Each page has pick up notes that makes the lay out and play back a little more consistant.

Print out the pages and mark the signs in where they should be.... use pencil in the event an error is made.Your not playing rhythm guitar, but solo guitar, so only parts of the fingerings for the chords are used.C 1985
