Some people like to transcribe and memorize licks. Although I will admit to knowing a few licks, most of my actual playing is much more "off the cuff"; I seldom play a specific lick on purpose. (I usually can't remember to anyway) You will tend to find your own licks slowly, and these will stick with you. Practice the chords first=so that even when you are not playing them, you can hear them in your head. THEN start improvising...
