Here is a F major scale on the 2nd string. Please note that I have started on C, which happens to be the lowest note in the F scale on this string. Because I started in the middle of the scale, if you are counting Whole and half steps, you have to count from the middle also.

Play this exercise, first just to learn the pattern.

When you have learned the pattern, practice playing the scale while you say each of the notes (say them out loud)
