Color Tone Chords
Shell chord voicings are swell, but they are only the very bare chord. To make your comping more interesting, you can add "the color tones" to your chords.
The shell chords invariably consist of root, third and seventh (or sixth. Color tones include the ninth, 13th, # or b 5th, etc.
You may already know barre chord voicings for some of these chords. The advantage to solor tone chords is that you avoid all unnecessary doubling.
