Palm Muting Exercise

Here is a little "funky niblet" which I used to help me with my palm muting. It is actually in the style of Hangar 18 by Megadeth.

What's going on ?
  • Downstrokes are used throughout
  • Only the A and D strings are muted - not the G string
  • You will have to lift the edge of your hand off the strings whenever you play a note on the G string

You will note that the muting in this example is quite heavy. I don't know if you can change the level of muting in the composer - anyway - you still want to be able to hear the tones of each note so don't push down too hard with you're right hand when muting.

Oh and by the way...For the purpose of this lesson you might want to select Ac Nylon or Elec Jazz for the best sound..

Don't forget you can always start slow and work your way up to speed.

Have fun and bye for now..
