Here is a short lesson illustrating how you can incorporate playing bass lines and chords together to build interesting comping patterns.

It is great practice to build arrangements of standard jazz tunes utilizing a bass line + chords approach. It can greatly increase your understanding of how different theoretical concepts can be combined and is also a terrific way to familiarize yourself with the chord changes to a tune. If you often jam as a duo with another guitar player, this is just the thing you need to generate interesting accompianments behind the soloist.
