We've Got Rhythm

stuck for melodic material? we've got rhythm, but we rarely exploit it.

this is a simple exercise in rhythm, using a common four note melodic motif.

the motif contracts and expands over eight bars (8 bars = 64 8th notes)

play 4 half notes (16 8th notes), then 4 dotted quarter notes (12 8th notes), then 4 quarter notes (8 8th notes), then 4 dotted quarter notes (12 8th notes), then 4 half notes (16 8th notes)

16 + 12 + 8 + 12 + 16 = 64 8th notes or 8bars of 4/4

perfect for energising a rhythm section tired of hearing our favourite ii-V-I licks.
