GROUP THREE continued.Enharmonic equivalents=A#dim7, C#dim7, Edim7, Gdim7.Abm = Ab, Bb, Cb, Db, Eb, Fb, G, Ab.
Key signature consists of all seven notes being flatted. The written order of the flats appearing is Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Cb, Fb.
The enharmonic equivalent would be the key of G#m = G#, A#, B, C#, D#, E, Fx, G#.
If we use Abm we would have to raise the 7th degree and cancell out the Gb by writing a natural in front of it each time the G was encountered. If G#minor is used, we have to raise the 7th, and in this case the F# is the seventh. Sharping the F# would make it Fx (double sharp).
The composer, author, creator has the option as what they want to use.
Abm will be selected because it is just 1/2 step down from Am. No notes were sharped or flatted in the key signature of Am. All notes are flatted in the key signature of Abm.
Primary chords in Abm are Abm(i)=Ab, Cb, Eb Dbm(iv)=Db, Fb, Ab
Eb7(V7)=Eb, G, Bb, Db. Lowered ninth(b9)=Fb Raised ninth(#9)=F#.
Gdim7(vii7)=G, Bb, Db, Fb.
Gdim7 notes and passing tones=G, [Ab], Bb, [Cb], Db, [Eb], Fb**b9, [F#]*#9, G.
If the viewer plots the notes of each dim7 on a single string, ALL of the dim7 notes and the added tones will be identical. Please click to the next page.
