Here are some intervallic ideas I play around with, mixed up with some down home pentatonic ideas. For some reason (probably me, 1st time!) the tab is a little off, so here's the basic shape of the predominant intervallic move here:
Yup, the notes on the B and E string are a unison...I think it's cool.(Who can argue with that much pinky-flapping?) This lick is in measures 3 and 6 where the note on the "g" string is tabbed two frets too high...
Later, there's a short move down Dmaj7 that should look like this:
And there's a move down C#-7 that should look like this:
The main idea here is to use these geometric shapes in musical ways...looking for ways they can be smoothly incorporated into your toolkit, rather than cramming them in as "dig me" licks. I always find it useful to take shapes like these and work out ways to fit them into my standard improv bag. Hope this sparks some ideas out there!
