There are many benefits to learning to play by ear,you can work out songs by just hearing them.Try to play a tune you know well on the giutar.This may take some getting used to,but the benefits are well worth it.After a while you know what the notes sound like befire you play them.This soon starts to help when soloing,and helps you keep in key with what ever chord progression you play against.Try to work out the following tunes by ear ,Do not listen to them first trust your ears.First try to work them out on one string then in one position God save the queen Some where over the rainbow Star spangle banner Amazing grace [in one position] Now try to work outb any other famous tunes you can think of,in one or two positions.DO NOT WORRY ABOUT PLAYING WRONG NOTES.it is trial and error tostart with.You will soon see some vast improvment on your playing
