For the major 6th interval, the note we are varying is A, and compared to our C reference note, there is a 9 fret distance between them.

When I hear an A in the ear training exercise, I often think of "My Bonny Lies Over the Ocean". It's also the first 2 notes of the NBC theme chimes.
