G major scale works well with this song but if you think D7 while you're playing and play over the D"mix" notes you'll be very surprised at the new sounds you'll come up with even though you're still basically on the same scale but just thinking a little differently.
D7 scale
.If you notice, I began this scale on the A note..but if you're comfortable with it try starting anywhere and just remember...think of it as D7 not G major.
