This lesson is going to teach us a great way to PRACTICE tuning the guitar by ear. First what you want to do is tune the guitar with your tuner to the standard tuning of eADGBE. Keep strumming each string one at a time (on open) starting with the low e string going in order and ending on the high E string. Before you attempt to tune the guitar by ear you have to know how each string sounds when it is in tune in your head. The best way I find to do this is to hear them in the order of lowest pitch to highest pitch (eADGBE) in whatever tempo you find easiest to remember. It's also important to remember how your low e string sounds (on open) when it is in tune because this is the hardest string to tune and can cause problems for all the rest of the strings during the tuning.
