Greetings all, and happy holidays!

It's time again for my traditional, annual offering of a holiday arrangement! I love arranging Christmas music, and this year I have been busy and having lots of fun!

This year, I have arranged a version of "We Three Kings" that I hope you will enjoy. I really like the melody of this song, and I have given it a bit of an uptempo jazz treatment. Within the arrangement you will find lots of reharmonization, including some modal sounding quartal voicings and other techniques including dominant and chromatic approach. If these terms are alien to you and you would like to know more about them, please check out my lesson entitled Chord Melody 101: Getting a Grip.

Another feature this year is that I have included a chart for a comping behind a soloist. I have been practicing playing this tune with a horn player, and I find it works great for jamming!

One last note: recently, WN has removed most of my previous holiday arrangements due to copyright issues. Since most of these tunes are traditional, I seriously question this judgement, although I do respect it. For this reason, I have chosed to post this lesson with links to the PDF and MIDI files of the material. This way, people can download them and still have access to them if WN decides to take this lesson down.

I do hope that you all enjoy this arrangement of "We Three Kings"...I have had a blast arranging it and really put my heart into it.

I wish you all a very happy and healthy holiday season! Merry Xmas!
