I wrote this lesson because I get bored just using the minor pentatonic scale for solos. I wanted exercises that would incorporate the notes of other scales often used to solo in the blues.

The Minor Pentatonic Scale

The primary scale I use for soloing in blues is the Minor Pentatonic scale. The Minor Pentatonic scale includes from the major scale: 1 b3 4 5 b7 . In the key of C that would be: C Eb F G Bb .
