I used to do something similar to this to get my hands used to quick posistion shifts while sweeping. Its important to be able to execute this becasue when sweeping complex arpeggios and what not, you need to be able to shift posistions pretty fuckin quickly. to give your hands a real good workout, take this up as far as you can go up the neck. Get the bpm up past 120 or so, and ur fuckin good to go.
