When I had been playing for just a little while, I found myself trying to play in different areas of the neck. Unfortunately, I really didn't know what notes I was playing, or even how to go about learning these notes.

As a result, it took me a long time to really become comfortable anywhere other then open position. I hope this leson helps you learn more quickly then I did.
